A Legacy Spanning Four Decades
LAFABAH was founded in 1986 by a small group of Bamiléké families in Houston who recognized the need for a formal organization to preserve their cultural identity in a new land. What began as informal gatherings in living rooms has grown into Houston's oldest and most respected Cameroonian association.
Over nearly four decades, we have expanded our mission from cultural preservation to encompass youth empowerment, community development, and charitable outreach — both locally and in Cameroon. Today, LAFABAH stands as a model for Bamiléké associations across the United States.
